Rhino's at Ziwa in Uganda

Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch located in Nakasongola district in Uganda is the proud home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. The Rhino re-introduction project is a project of Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority.

When people go to Africa often the game is to see the Big 5 with their own eyes.

At Ziwa you 2 can get close to one of the big 5, the Rhino. See, hear and smell these massive creatures

Presently the sanctuary is home to fifteen (15) southern white rhinos. The sanctuary has become increasingly popular with tourists; for rhino trekking, bird watching, nature walks and relaxation.

I’ve had time to visit Ziwa right after they started this project and we got really close to the adult Rhino's there at that time.

Tracking (even with kids) these enormous creatures on foot through the savanna and swamps is a thrilling experience, and your specialist guide will share his expert knowledge on these impressive animals. The guides know each of the nine rhinos by name, from the huge, battle scarred males to the gentle females resting in the shade with their calves.
